You Can Dance

Three different people have mentioned to me over the past month that they have read the blog posts. I took this as a sign that I should not let them keep falling by the wayside- I honestly thought that noone even knew they existed. So, if you are reading this I invite you to our Open House at the new Red Bank location. This will take place on Friday, March 23rd. Free Group Class and Dance, 8-9:30pm. The whole point of the second location is to provide a location for instruction that will be more convenient for the Red Bank/Hixson demographic, so contact us if you want more details!

Ok enough with the formalities, this is what is on my mind right now. I believe that sometimes people can get discouraged when they start taking dance lessons because while the lessons may make learning seem easy (as it should be), the execution of what is taught is not as simple as one may think before actually taking a lesson. As someone who did not receive professional instruction for dance at all during childhood, I am here to tell you that YOU CAN DO IT. It is perfectly normal and acceptable to not be able to do everything your instructor asks you to do perfectly. The purpose of our studio is to instruct- We do not expect anyone to come in and do everything we ask them to do perfectly. If you have not taken a lesson before, then it will probably be a little different than whatever you have envisioned in your head (or maybe you have the ability to see the future and you know exactly how it will go down-I guess that’s a possibility). In any case do not get down on yourself- as it is with many things in life, time and effort will reward you when it comes to dancing in partnership. We are going to release a video this year to give people their “First Lesson” at home so people will have a clearer idea of what to expect when they come to our studio- Look out for it!
